5 Things To See and Do In Page, Arizona

Page, Arizona is a place you need to add to your bucket list, of “must-sees” before you die kind of place. In fact, the minute I moved to Arizona I booked a tour to Antelope Canyon to make sure I reserved my spot. Since then I have visited a couple more times, and each time I find more and more I love about this tourist destination + tips I wished I would have known the first time I went!

Location

Page is about a 4.5 hour drive north of Phoenix (right on the border of Arizona and Utah), and if you make a weekend or even a small vacation out of visiting Page you can also experience the Grand Canyon + Bryce Canyon + Zion National Park since they are all relatively close driving distance.

Best Time to Visit

Summer is the busiest, but also.. UM if you know Arizona you know it's FREAKING HOT in the summer, and not to mention the elevation of northern Arizona’s sun will do you dirtyyyy! You also have to remember that summer is Arizona’s monsoon season. I know I wouldn’t want to drown and be swept away in the canyon, so count me out for summer in Page!

The first time I went to Page was in November, and OH MY GOODNESS IT WAS COLD (even for a girl that is used to the midwest winters), so I can’t imagine going back in the winter.

The next time I went to Page was in October, and it was warm at times, but for the most part it was pretty perfect. I definitely recommend early fall or spring for your visit.

Places to Stay | Wingate by Wyndham Page Lake Powell & An Airbnb Option

The Wingate is where Shem and I stayed the first time we went. I found a Groupon and it ended up being like $80 (if that) for the night! The room was nice, and it was only about 5 minutes away from our Antelope Canyon tour group meet up spot, so you could not beat this hotel's location! Shem and I both agree that we would definitely go back and stay here again.

This is the huge airbnb we stayed at the second time we went.

Granted we stayed here with 20+ other people, but this house was gorgeous, and also in such a great location! Shem and I also considered moving to Page after staying in this house.

5 Things to Do in Page, Arizona

1. Upper Antelope Canyon & Lower Antelope Canyon

Yes, there is an upper and a lower canyon, and yes they are different! If you only have time for one, I recommend Upper Antelope Canyon. Upper Antelope Canyon's tour is a little bit more expensive, but this is the one you see all over Instagram. Make sure you schedule your tour a couple months ahead (for example I scheduled 6 months in advance, and Shem and I got the last two time slots), and pick a tour time between 11am and 1:30pm because that is when the sunlight is perpendicular to the canyon. I learned the hard way and scheduled our tour too early in the morning, so the sun wasn’t directly over us.. AKA the canyon was pitch black. LOL just my luck.

Upper Antelope Tour group I booked it through & cost per person: Rates differ for age and is more expensive for that prime lighting time (11:30AM). Expect to pay around $60+ for an adult (ages 13+) ticket depending on the time you choose.

Lower Antelope Canyon: This tour is a little bit cheaper, it is more narrow, and although you won’t get the light beams like Upper does, Lower Antelope Canyon stays lit for a lot longer and it is much deeper, so you’ll still get AMAZING pictures!

Ken's Tour group to book through & cost per person: Approx. $40 per person

2. Waterhole Canyon

This reminded me a lot of Upper Antelope Canyon except it was MUCH longer like 3 miles, and had no crowds! What separates this from the other Antelope Canyon tours was all the ladders into different “zones” of the Canyon. Here you get both experiences of Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon in regards to depth, but again you will not see the light beams here. This is a great spot for photographers. Shem and I did a photoshoot here with @bebavowels and our pictures turned out amazing. For an actual walk through of parts of the canyon watch our YouTube video.

Tour Group & cost: Waterhole Canyon Experience, LLC & approx. $56 per person

3. Horseshoe Bend

$10 admission, a little bit of a hike, but the views are worth it! To beat the crowds and get the best pictures go at dusk or dawn. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes, pack water, and maybe bring a little picnic style lunch to enjoy with the views!

4. Rent a houseboat on Lake Powell

This is on my bucket list! How fun would it be to get a group together and spend 3-5 days on the water in the summer?! I can see this being my future spring break trip!

5. Paddle board through the Canyons

You don’t want to miss this! Paddling through the narrow canyons is surreal! I recommend using Lake Powell Paddleboards, located right in the middle of Page. If you are visiting in the summer, I would book in advance. The whole ordeal is 4-5 hours (there is even an optional hike at the furthest point from the marina if you choose), so make sure you plan accordingly, and don’t forget your sunscreen!

Let me know if you are planning a trip to Page! I'd love to hear about your experience + all your Page "must-sees".

xoxo,

Cami
